A 42 year old man arrested in connection with this investigation is expected to appear before The Criminal Courts of Justice, Parkgate Street, Dublin 8 this afternoon (Wednesday 7th January 2015).

Gardaí attached to the Regional Traffic Department, Dublin Castle responded to a call relating to a minor road traffic collision on the M50 Northbound at the N4 junction yesterday morning (6/1/15) at approximately 11.30am.
During the course of the investigation a 42 year old man (driver of car) was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, he was conveyed to Ballyfermot Garda Station.
During a search of this person an improvised firearm and ammunition were recovered. This man is currently detained at Ballyfermot Garda Station under the provisions of Section 30 – Offences Against the State Act 1939.
Investigations are continuing.
