Gardaí have arrested three males following an incident in Co. Carlow on the Sunday 1st February 2015.
The incident commenced shortly before midnight when a car failed to stop for Gardaí at a checkpoint on the N80 in Clonegal. The car was followed by a number of Garda units across Co. Carlow before it rammed a Garda patrol car on St. Joseph's Road in Carlow town a short time later.
The occupants of the car, three males aged in their 20s, were arrested at the scene. They are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Carlow Garda Station.
Three Gardaí injured during the incident were taken from the scene for treatment at St. Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny. They were later discharged. Two Garda patrol cars were damaged during the course of the incident.
A small amount of Cocaine (pending analysis) has been recovered by investigating Gardaí and a technical examination of the scene is underway.
