As part of an on-going intelligence led operation targeting the illegal sale and supply of controlled drugs in West Dublin, Gardaí at Ronanstown have seized cocaine and arrested two males.
Yesterday afternoon (7/02/15) Gardai stopped a car at Neilstown Gardens. When Gardai searched the car and the two 18 year old occupants they discovered cocaine (pending analysis) with an estimated street value of up to €85,000.
The two males were arrested and taken to Ronanstown Garda Station where they were detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
One male has been charged this afternoon and bailed to a court sitting in Blanchardstown District Court next month. The other male was released without charge late last night and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks. Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.
