Gardaí in Raheny are investigating a burglary which occurred at a private residence at Charlemont, Griffith Avenue, Marino, Dublin 3 early this morning (3/2/15).
Two masked men entered a house and and took the keys of a Mercedes car, both males then left the scene in the Mercedes and a Mitsubishi Colt. There were no injuries sustained.
Gardaí were immediately made aware of the incident and members from the Organised Crime Unit observed both vehicles travelling on the M3 outbound. A short time later the driver of the Mercedes lost control and crashed the car in the Damastown Industrial Estate. The driver of the car (26yrs) fled from the scene but was arrested a short time later. He is currently detained at Clontarf Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984.
Investigations are continuing.
