Witness appeal - Robbery of male in Clontarf, Dublin on the 8/12/15

Gardai in Clontarf investigating a robbery which occurred in Clontarf on the 8th December 2015 have arrested a male (45 years).

The incident occurred at approximately 12.30pm when the suspect walked onto the driveway of a house on Malahide Road and assaulted the injured party (a male in his 70's) and took his car keys.


A passerby went to the aid of the injured party and he was also assaulted, he was also a male in his 70's. The suspect left the scene in the injured party's car. Both males were treated at scene by Dublin Fire Brigade, the second injured male was taken to the Mater Hospital for further treatment but has since been released.

As a result of investigations carried out by Gardai from Clontarf and Ballymun assisted by the Emergency Response Unit, a house at Dolmen Court, Ballymun was searched and a male (35 years) was arrested. He is currently being detained at Clontarf Garda station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended. The injured parties car was also located in Ballymun.
