Gardai in Cabinteely wish to appeal for witnesses to a collision that occurred on Monday 23rd November at 10pm on Glenamuck Road North, Carrickmines.
It happened on the stretch of road from the Roundabout at E15 South off Ramp to the roundabout at the entrance to the Luas Park and Ride at the Carrickmines stop.
What is described as a silver/grey 04 LH registration Jeep, possibley a Land Rover or Range Rover, came down the hill and struck a 16 year old female pedestrian who was crossing the road. The pedestrian was knocked to the ground and hit her head. The driver stopped and got out of the vehicle briefly and spoke to the girl before getting back in and driving off towards Cornelscourt.
The injured girl suffered a fractured pelvis, a sprained leg and torn ligaments in her back and was hospitalised for a period of aproximalely 48 hours in St Vincents Hospital. Thankfully she will have no long lasting injuries.
The driver is described as being in his mid 30’s, approximately 6ft tall, skinny and with blonde hair. He also has a colourful neck tattoo on one side of his neck.
Despite extensive enquiries to date gardai have been unable to locate the driver of the vehicle.
