A male aged in his 40s is expected to appear before a sitting of Virginia District Court at 5pm this evening (23/8/2015) following a fire at Monaghan Garda Station on the 22nd August 2015
Shortly before 7pm a car was driven into a secure parking area at the front of Monaghan Garda Station and set alight. Local fire units attended the scene and extinguished the fire which caused significant smoke damage to the front of the building. No one was injured during the incident. A male aged in his 40s was arrested at the scene and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Carrickmacross Garda Station by investigating Gardaí.
Monaghan Garda Station, which was closed following the incident, has reopened to the public.
