Gardaí in Limerick investigating an alleged assault and robbery of an 89-year-old woman at Rossbrien Road, Limerick on Sunday 2nd August 2015 have arrested a male (25 years) in Limerick in connection with the incident.
He is being detained at Roxboro Rd Garda station under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.
He is the second person to be arrested in connection with this incident. The male arrested on the 3rd of August was released without charge and a file is being prepared for the DPP.

Gardaí in Limerick have arrested a male aged in 20s following the alleged assault and robbery of an 89-year-old woman at Rossbrien Road, Limerick on Sunday 2nd August 2015.
At approximately 10.30pm the woman was approached, outside her home on Rossbrien Road, by a lone male who attempted to take her hand bag. Following a struggle he made off on foot with the bag, which contained a small amount of cash. The woman was taken from the scene by Ambulance to University Hospital Limerick where she is continuing to receive treatment for injuries sustained during the incident.
A male aged in his 20's was arrested yesterday evening (3/8/2015) by investigating Gardaí. He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Roxboro Road Garda Station.
Investigations are ongoing.
