Gardaí have arrested a man, early 40’, in connection with the investigation into a fatal shooting which occurred at Greenhills Estate, Athy, County Kildare this evening Friday 21st August 2015.
The arrested man is currently detained at Kildare Garda Station under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007.
A man, 22 years, suffered apparent gunshot wounds and was taken to Naas General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The Offices of the State Pathologist have been notified and a post mortem is to be arranged.
The scene has been preserved for technical examination.
