Garda/Crimestoppers appeal - Missing person - Barry Corcoran on the 26/8/15

Barry Corcoran is a 39 year old father of a five year old daughter. He is from the Wicklow town area.

On the morning of the 6th July 2015 Barry Corcoran left his home in Wicklow town and went to the Post Office at Main Street, Wicklow. He was in the Post Office at 9.35am for a few minutes where he conducted some personal business. Barry then travelled from Wicklow town to Dublin on a Bus Eireann bus.

He got the 11am Bus Eireann, No. 133 bus from outside Flannery’s Shop in Wicklow town to Dublin City Centre. It is believed he initially went to the Fitzgibbon Street area to visit a gym in order make contact with a friend of his. He subsequently travelled on the Luas red line out as far as the Kylemore Stop on the Naas Road, arriving there in or around 2pm.

Barry would not have been familiar with this area of the city but got directions from his friend and arranged to meet him at the Luas stop. Barry made some purchases in a local shop on Kylemore Road at 2.30pm & again at 6.45pm. Barry was visiting friends on Cremona Road, Ballyfermot on the evening and night of the 6th July 2015. Barry was last sighted on Cremona Road, Ballyfermot on the night of Monday the 6th July 2015. Barry would not have been familiar with the general Ballyfermot area and it is not known if Barry left this area.

Barry Corcoran’s family and friends have not heard from him since the 6th July 2015 and they are very concerned for his safety and wellbeing.

Superintendent Brendan Connolly, the officer in charge of the Ballyfermot sub-district stated "I share the family’s concerns, as it is completely out of character for Barry to go missing in this fashion. I have established an investigation team at Ballyfermot Garda Station and they are liaising closely with Gardai in Wicklow in the course of this investigation”.

Superintendent Connolly continued, "Gardaí have carried out extensive investigations since Barry was reported missing. As a result of these investigations we have significant concerns regarding his welfare and safety and I would urge anybody with information to contact us here in Ballyfermot Garda Station at 01 – 6667200”.

A trained Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to the Corcoran family and this officer is keeping the family updated with any developments in the investigation.

Barry Corcoran is described as 5’11" in height and is of thin build. He has short grey hair and blue eyes. Barry is described as walking with a slight ‘shuffle’ having injured his hip in an accident a number of years ago. Barry also has an old scar on the bridge of his nose. When Barry was last seen he was wearing a dark rain jacket, blue jeans and black Puma runners.

Ballyfermot Gardaí are making an appeal today:

• To anyone who may have seen or been in contact with Barry Corcoran on Monday 6th July 2015 or at any time after the 6th July, to contact Ballyfermot Garda Station.
