Gardaí are investigating a fatal shooting incident which occurred in the Greenhills area, Athy, County Kildare this evening Friday 20th August 2015 shortly after 5pm.
A man, aged in his early 20's, suffered apparent gunshot wounds and was taken to Naas General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The Offices of the State Pathologist have been notified and a post mortem is to be arranged.
The scene has been preserved for technical examination. No arrests have been made.
