An operation targeting dissident republician activity, namely the IRA in the Dublin Region, led by Special Detective Unit, Emergency Response Unit and Crime and Security Branch culimated on Saturday afternoon, 8th August, 2015 with the arrest of five people, four men and one woman, in the Dublin 15 area.
All persons (ages ranging from late 60's to early 40's) were arrested under Section 30, Offences Against the State Act, 1939/1998 and detained at a number of Garda stations in Dublin Region.
Three of those arrested have addresses in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The five arrested persons will appear at a special sitting of the Special Criminal Court, (CCJ) at 5 p.m. today to be charged in relation to this investigation.
An Garda Siochana will continue to liaise closely with the Police Service of Northern Ireland in relation to this investigation.
