A man, aged in his 50’s, arrested in connection with the investigation into the disappearance of Ciara Breen has, this morning Wednesday 22nd April 2015, been released from Garda custody without charge.
A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The man was arrested on Tuesday 21st April 2015 and had been detained at Drogheda Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
Ciara Breen was reported missing at Dundalk Garda Station on 13th February 1997. Ciara was last seen at her home at Bachelors Walk, Dundalk in the early hours of Thursday 13th February 1997.
Ciara Breen was 17 years of age at the time of disappearance.
Investigating officers are appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to Ciara’s disappearance or who may have seen her on the night/morning of her disappearance to contact Dundalk Garda Station on 042-9388400, the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-111 or any Garda Station.

Gardaí at Dundalk investigating the disappearance of 17 year old Ciara Breen who was reported missing in Dundalk on 13/2/97 have renewed their appeal for information.
Ciara was last seen at her home at Bachelors Walk, Dundalk in the early hours of Thursday morning 13th February 1997. Ciara is described as being of slim build, sallow complexion, long dark hair and blue eyes. When last seen she was wearing a black leather jacket, blue jeans, wine coloured sweatshirt and a white t-shirt with an image of her own face on same. Ciara was also wearing a black leather wrist watch with a square face and green background.
Two potential witnesses have come forward and spoke to investigating Gardaí in recent weeks and have been of great assistance to the investigation team.
