Gardaí at Macroom are investigating an incident which occurred in Crookstown Co Cork this afternoon (20/10/14).
A firearm was discharged from a house during the incident. Armed Gardaí attended the scene and a media blackout was put in place.
Gardaí maintained a presence at the scene and at 7pm this evening (20/10/14) an elderly gentleman walked out of the house and spoke to Gardaí.
Two legally held firearms have been recovered from the house. No arrests have been made, no injuries were sustained during the incident and investigations are continuing.
