As part of an on-going intelligence-led operation into the illegal sale and supply of controlled drugs in Dublin South Inner City and the Dublin South area, An Garda Síochána have seized drugs and made two arrests.
Gardaí from the Kevin Street Drugs Unit assisted by other units carried out planned searches of premises in the Crumlin area yesterday afternoon, Friday 24th October 2014. Heroin, pending analysis, with an estimated value of €80,000 was seized during the searches.
Two men, 27 and 28 years, were arrested and detained at Kilmainham and Kevin Street Garda Stations under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 2006.
The men were both charged today, Saturday 25th October 2014, in connection with this investigation and appeared before the Dublin District Court No. 2, Criminal Courts of Justice. They were remanded on bail to appear in court on a later date.
These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks. Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.
