As part of on-going intelligence-led operations targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the Longford area Gardai have seized a large quantity of cannabis plants.
Gardai from Longford carried out a planned search at a residence in Prospect Woods, Longford last night at approximately 10pm. Cannabis plants with an estimated street value of up to €112,000 (pending analysis) were seized in what was described as an elaborate grow house. A 19 year old male was arrested at the scene and detained at Longford Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
The 19 year old male is scheduled to appear before Athlone District Court at 10.30am this morning charged in connection with this seizure.
