As part of an ongoing operation into the illegal sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Louth Division, Gardaí from Ardee, Drogheda and Dundalk districts, searched 14 premises this morning and yesterday, 16th and 17th October 2014.
During the operation €5,000 worth of tobacco was seized and a number of cannabis plants, heroin and tablets with an estimated street value of €11,000 (subject to analysis).
One woman (early 20's) was arrested in Dundalk this morning and is currently detained in Dundalk Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. A man (late 30's) was also arrested in Drogheda this morning and was detained in Drogheda Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. He has been released and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Two men, in their 20's, were arrested in Dundalk on 16th October, and were detained under Section 4, they were charged and appeared before Dundalk District Court yesterday charged in relation to the incident.
These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks. Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.
