Gardaí at Macroom are investing a fatal road traffic collision which occurred at Quarry Cross on the Main N22 at Crookstown, Co Cork and has resulted in the death of a 74 year old woman.
The incident occurred when a car, in which the woman was a passenger, collided with a truck at approx 1.15pm this afternoon.
The body of the woman has been removed to CUH for a post mortem examination.
The driver of the car, a man in his early 70's, has been taken to CUH in serious condition. The driver of the truck was uninjured in the incident.
The road is currently closed for forensic collision investigations and diversions are in place.
