Gardaí investigating a hi-jacking of a car in County Wicklow on 19th May 2014 are appealing for witnesses to the incident.
Gardaí are investigating a collision at Clara Vale, Rathdrum on the Rathdrum to Laragh road on 19th May 2014 at about 2.30pm, involving a bus and a gold coloured, northern Irish registered Volvo S60.
Four male occupants of the Volvo stole a German registered black Mercedes C180 close to the scene of the collision. The driver and passenger of the Mercedes, both in their 70s were badly shaken, but not seriously injured in the incident.
The black Mercedes has now been located in Tullow Co Carlow. The car has been preserved for technical examination. There have been no arrests to date.
Gardaí are appealing to the public for information relating to this black Mercedes and any sightings of the car as it drove towards Tullow. Gardaí are also trying to locate property which is missing from this car. Three bags which were in the car may have been thrown from it en route from Rathdrum to Tullow. The bags are described as two large black and blue suitcases and a third smaller black bag with brown and green stripes.
Gardaí would also like to appeal for information about the gold coloured Volvo S60 with northern registration. This car is suspected to have been involved in a burglary close to Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow and was reported close to another burglary in the Tinahealy area about noon on 19th May 2014. Gardaí would like speak to anyone who saw this car during the morning of the 19th May or over the last number of days.

Following a traffic collision at Clara Vale, Rathdrum this afternoon 19th May 2014 at about 2.30pm, involving a bus and a black Volvo, four male occupants of the black Volvo stole a German registered black Mercedes C180 which had stopped to lend assistance at the scene.
A female passenger in the Mercedes received slight injuries in the incident.
The vehicle left the scene in the direction of Glendalough. Gardaí are investigating reports that the Volvo car was involved in a burglary earlier in the Athy area of Carlow.
The black Mercedes has now been located in Tullow, Co. Carlow. The car has been preserved for technical examination. There have been no arrests to date. A search is underway involving Gardai from Wicklow, Carlow and the Garda Air Support Unit.
