Over the 24 hours of Operation Slowdown 124,818 vehicles have been checked and 974 motorists detected speeding.
The highest speed recorded was 147km/h in a 80 km/h zone on the R238 at Lisfannan, Buncrana Donegal.

90 km/h in a 60 km/h zone on the N11 at Stillorgan Dublin Dublin
91km/h in a 60 km/h zone on the N52 at Woodfield Birr Offaly
78km/h in a 50 km/h zone on the N59 at Bushy Park Galway Galway
Yesterday we detected:
76 in a 50 on the N20 at Creggane Buttevant Cork
74 in a 50 on the R742 at Ballinatray Lower Courtown Wexford
The highest speed recorded is 130 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on the N15 Mount Temple, Grange, Sligo
100km/h in a 60 km/h zone on the R188 Doocassan, Drung, Cavan
82 km/h in a 50 km/h zone R752 Ballyfree, Glenealy, Wicklow
127 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on the N25 at Ballyadam, Carrigtwohill, Cork
128 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on the N7
86 km/h in a 50 km/h zone on the R390 at Grange Mullingar Westmeath
The head of Garda Traffic Assistant Commissioner John Twomey speaking earlier said, "we would like to thank all those motorists who complied with the law and remind road users that Gardaí will continue to rigerously enforce road traffic legislation".
