Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision on Davitt Road, Dublin 12 at 10.30 pm on Friday 30th May 2014.
A 40 year old female pedestrian was fatally injured when she was struck by a car, which failed to remain at the scene. The woman was crossing the road at Golden Bridge Luas stop at the time she was struck.
The woman was taken to St James' Hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Witnesses described the offending car as dark coloured, possible a Ford Focus and either 08 or 09 registration. The car left in the direction of Naas Road. This car would have damage to the front and to the windscreen.
Garda forensic collision investigators have examined the scene which has now reopened.
