Gardaí at Edgeworthstown Co Longford are investigating an aggravated burglary which occurred at a house on Chapel Lane, Edgeworthtown shortly after midday yesterday (Sunday 18th May 2014)
Three men entered the house and proceeded to assault the lone male occupant. They locked the man in the toilet and stole property. The injured man managed to release himself and alert Gardaí . He was conveyed to the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar where he was treated for minor injuries.
In a follow-up operation investigating Gardaí arrested a 44 year old man in the Edgeworthstown area in connection with this incident, he is currently detained at Granard Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 - Criminal Justice Act 1984 Some property was also recovered.
Investigations are continuing.
