Gardaí have arrested a twenty year old man following an aggravated burglary at a house in the Abbeyside area of Dungarvan, Co. Waterford in the early hours of this morning 13th May 2014.
Gardaí responding to a call about suspicious activity were patrolling the Abbeyside area. While they were in the area a call was received about a burglary in progress. Gardaí then spotted a man armed with a hatchet. Gardaí disarmed and arrested the man and he was taken to Dungarvan Garda station where he is detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
Gardaí are investigating reports that a man armed with a hatchet threatened the occupants of a house in the area and stole cash and mobile phones.
