Gardaí at Roscommon have arrested two men following a Post Office robbery which occurred at Strokestown, Co Roscommon at approximately 9.30am this morning (4/3/14)
Two masked men, one believed to be armed with a firearm entered the Post Office in Strokestown. They threatened staff and customers and stole an undisclosed amount of cash. They made their escape in a silver Volvo car in the direction of Longford Town which later crashed on the road between Ballymahon and Lanesborough. Two men were arrested at the scene in connection with the earlier incident (both in their 20’s) They are currently detained at Roscommon Garda Station under the provisions of Section 30 Offences against the State Act. 1939
Investigations are continuing.
