Gardaí are investigating the murder of Stephen Moran, 46 years, of Earlsfort View, Lucan, who was fatally injured following a shooting incident outside his home on Saturday 15th March 2014 at approximately 7.30pm.
On receipt of a report, Gardaí arrived at the scene and discovered Mr. Moran in his front garden, wounded. Medical assistance was rendered to Stephen Moran and he was removed to Tallaght Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The scene was preserved for a full technical examination and the Office of the State Pathologist was notified.
Investigating Gardaí are awaiting the results of a post mortem which is currently being carried out by the Assistant State Pathologist, Doctor Bolster, at the Dublin City Morgue.
A Family Liaison Officer has been appointed and is currently liaising with the family of the deceased at this difficult time.
Stephen Moran, a native of Limerick, has lived in the Earlsfort area for a number of years with his partner and siblings. He was involved in the security business.
A short time after the incident Gardaí received a report of a car on fire at Glenvale, (Cul-de-Sac), Lucan. This car was extensively damaged. A make, model and registration number are yet to be established. There is a walkway from Glenvale to Ballyowen Road (Outer Ring Road).
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have seen any suspicious or unusual activity at Earlsfort View, Lucan, between 6pm & 7.30pm on Saturday 16th March 2014 or in the days prior to this incident, or who may have seen a vehicle being driven at speed/erratically on the Balgaddy Road, (adjacent to Ballyowen Park), or a vehicle being parked/set on fire at Glenvale, Lucan, to contact Lucan Garda Station on (01) 6667300, The Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.
