Firearm and ammunition recovered Blanchardstown 7th March 2014

As part of an ongoing operation, combating the illegal sale and supply of controlled drugs in the West Dublin area, Gardaí from Blanchardstown recovered a firearm and ammunition this morning, Friday 7th March 2014 at approximately 1am.

Gardaí, while on mobile patrol, were alerted by the suspicious activity of a number of men near Ladyswell, Church Road, Mulhuddart. On observing Gardaí the men fled. A search of the area was carried out and a handgun and ammunition was discovered.

The items recovered have been sent for forensic examination. No arrests have been made. Investigations are ongoing.
