Gardaí at Cahir are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the R687, (New Inn - Clonmel Road) at Newtown, New Inn, Cashel, County Tipperary, on Saturday 22nd March 2014 at approximately 2.45pm.
A male, 63 years, was fatally injured when the car he was driving left the road, entered a ditch and collided with a tree. He was pronounced dead at scene. The deceased was removed to South Tipperary General Hospital, Clonmel, where a post mortem is to be arranged.
The passenger in the vehicle, a male, 35 years, was taken to South Tipperary General Hospital, Clonmel. His injuries are described as being non-life threatening.
The road is currently closed to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Diversions are in place.
