Gardaí are investigating a two vehicle fatal road traffic collision which occurred at Cornafulla, old N6, Athlone - Ballinasloe Road on 24th March 2014 at approximately 9am.
A 49 year old female was fatally injured when the car she was driving collided with another car. She was brought to Portiuncula Hospital, Ballinasloe County Galway where she was pronounced dead. A post mortem is to be arranged.
The male driver of the second vehicle was also brought to Portiuncula Hospital, with non-life threatening injuries.
The road is currently closed to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Diversions are in place.
