A male (40) and a female (43) arrested during a Garda operation on the M1 near Drogheda Co. Louth on Thursday last are expected to appear before a sitting of Dublin District Court (Criminal Courts of Justice).
At 4.15pm this afternoon (28/6/2014) charged in connection with the investigation.
A third male (40) arrested remains in custody at Drogheda Garda Station.

As part of on-going intelligence-led operation targeting the sale, supply and distribution of controlled substances Gardai from the Garda National Drugs Unit (GNDU) based at Dublin Castle, assisted by local detective unit in Drogheda stopped and searched an articulated truck on the M1, Drogheda, Louth.
During the course of the search Gardai discovered 27 kilos of heroin with an estimated street value of €4.05 million (subject to analysis) on Thursday evening 26th June 2014.
A male (40 years) and female (43 years) were arrested at scene and a second male (40 years) was arrested in a follow up search and all three are currently detained at Coolock and Drogheda Garda Stations under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 as amended.
