Drugs seizure and arrests in Dublin City Centre on the 9/7/14

As part of on-going intelligence-led operations targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the Oliver Bond Flats and South Quays area of Dublin, An Garda Síochána have seized heroin with an estimated street value of €80,000

Gardaí from the Kevin Street Drug Unit assisted by local uniformed officers conducted a planned search of two premises in Dublin City Centre this afternoon (Wednesday July 9th 2014).
 

During the course of the search, heroin with an estimated street value of €80,000 (subject to analysis) was seized. An amount of cash was also recovered.
 

Four men in their 20’s and one man in his 60’s were arrested during this operation. They are currently detained at various Garda Stations in Dublin City under the provisions of Section 2 – Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996  
 

These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks. Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.
