Update - Homicide of male in Tramore, Co Waterford on the 9/1/14

Gardai are appealing for information following the death of a male in Tramore, Co. Waterford.

At approximately 11.30 pm on the Thursday, 9th January 2014, Gardai and Emergency Services were called to a house at Seafield Holiday Cottages, Tramore.  On arrival they discovered a seriously injured male.  The male was treated at the scene and removed by ambulance to Waterford Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The scene was preserved and the office of the State Pathologist notified.


At approximately 11.40 pm a 32-year-old male was arrested by Gardai. He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice act 1984, at Tramore Garda Station.


The deceased has been named as 25-year-old Michael O’Dwyer from Kilkenny. A family liaison officer has been appointed and an incident room established at Tramore Garda Station.


A post-mortem examination is currently being carried out at Waterford Regional Hospital by the State Pathologist Dr. Cassidy.


Investigating Gardai are appealing for witnesses and in particular anyone who may have seen, heard or witnessed any suspicious or unusual activity in the Seafield Holiday Home Complex  between 10 pm and 12 midnight on the 9th of January to contact them.

Gardaí at Tramore are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a male, 25 years, which occurred at Seafield, Tramore, on Thursday night, 9th January 2014.
