Gardaí in Killarney are investigating a fatal, single vehicle road traffic collision that occurred on the N72, Killorglin to Killarney road at Ballydowney(2.5km outside Killarney) today the 6th January 2014 at approximately 12:20pm.
The female driver of the vehicle, aged 47 years was pronounced dead at the scene. A female child aged 8 years, the only passenger in the vehicle, was transferred to Kerry General Hospital with what is believed to be non life threatening injuries. The road was closed to facilitate a Forensic collision examination but has since reopened.
Gardai in Killarney are appealing for witnesses to the collision or for anyone who may have travelled on the Killarney to Killorglin Rd between 12midday and 1pm on the 6th Jan to contact them on 064 6671160, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
