Gardai are investigating as murder the death of a 64-year-old male following the discovery of a body at a house in Edenderry, Co. Offaly, on the 16th of February 2014.
At approximately 2.45 p.m. the body of 64-year-old Thomas (Toddy) Dooley was discovered when Gardai were called to his house at Sr. Senan Court, Edenderry. Mr Dooley who had sustained injuries to his upper body was pronounced dead at the scene. The house was sealed off and the State Pathologist was notified.
The State Pathologist Dr. Cassidy attended the scene earlier today and carried out a post mortem examination at the Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore, this evening (17/2/2014).
A family liaison officer has been appointed and an incident room has been established at Tullamore Garda Station.
Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have spoken to or seen Mr. Dooley between 11 a.m. on Thursday 13th February and 2.45 p.m. on Sunday 16th February to contact them. They are also appealing to anyone who witnessed any unusual or suspicious activity in the vicinity of Sr. Senan Court, Edenderry, in the same time frame to contact them.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination and the body remains at the scene.
The Office of the State Pathologist has been notified.
