Man 43 years charged in connection with robbery of Post Office Baldoyle 19th December 2014

Gardaí have charged a man, 43years, in connection with the robbery of a Post Office which occurred at Baldoyle, Dublin 13, on Friday 19th December 2014 at approximately 12.50pm.

The man is due to appear before Dublin District Court, Criminal Courts of Justice tomorrow morning, Monday 22nd December 2014 at 10.30am.

Gardaí from Coolock on patrol in the DMR North responded to a call of an armed robbery in progress at a Post Office in Baldoyle on the 19th December 2014.
 
The incident occurred shortly before 1pm today, when a number of men entered the Post Office and threatened staff, at least one was in possession of a firearm. They left the premises without any money and got into a waiting car. No one was injured in the incident and no shots were fired.
 
A man aged 43 years was arrested a short time later in Portmarnock, the car believed to be involved a 08 OY black BMW 1 series was last seen on Station Road, Portmarnock.
 
The arrested man is being detained at Coolock Garda station under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.
 
Witnesses to the attempted robbery or anyone with information in particular if they saw any suspicious activity in the vicinity of the Post Office prior to the incident or who may have seen the above described car before or after the attempted robbery are asked to contact the Gardaí in Coolock on 01 6664200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
