Gardai in Borrisokane are investigating a fatal road traffic collision on the Borrisokane to Portumna Road N65 on the 19th December 2014.
The collision occurred at approximately 9.30am when a car was in a collision with a male (aged 72yrs) pedal cyclist at Lahinch on the main Borrisokane to Portumna Road (approx 3km outside Portumna). The pedal cyclist was seriously injured in the collision and pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been removed to University Hospital Limerick where a post mortem will be carried out later today. The female driver (sole occupant) of the car aged 51 years was uninjured.
The road is closed pending a Forensic Collision Examination and diversions are in place.
