Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred at Kilkeeran, Kilmaine, Co. Mayo on Sunday evening, 21st December 2014 at approximately 8pm.
A male pedestrian, 73 years, was struck by a car and removed to Castlebar Hospital where he passed away in the early hours of this morning Monday 22nd December, 2014. The female driver (late 20s) of the car was uninjured.
A post mortem is to be arranged.
The scene is preserved and local road is closed to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.
