Arrest in relation to Operation Acer - 16/12/14

As part of Operation Acer Gardai from Blackrock Garda Station searched a number of premises at St Louise's Park, Blackrock Co Dublin on the morning of the 16th December 2014.

 A female aged 52 years was arrested on foot of a warrant and appeared before Dun Laoghaire District Court today the 16th.

 
During the course of a search of two other properties an number of items were recovered; electrical equipment - Angle Grinder Hand drill, power cords, smoke alarm and mobile phones. A quantity of cannabis Herb and cannabis resin(subject to analysis) were also discovered.
 

Two males aged 36 & 43 years were arrested and charged and will appear before Dun Laoghaire District Court at 10.30am on the 17th December 2014.

 
Assistant Commissioner DMR John Twomey said this evening "The search today under Operation Acer is another example of the ongoing commitment by members of An Garda Siochana to prevent and tackle burglaries"

 
Assistant Commissioner Twomey also stressed that, "It is also important that people take measures to protect their homes from burglaries, particularly during these dark winter days. Simple steps can help such as turning your alarm on even when your home, lighting up your house when not occupied, and ensuring all windows and doors are properly secured

In a recent day of action against criminals committing burglaries, Gardaí from the Dublin Metropolitan Region carried out the following as part of "Operation ACER”;

Eleven Operation Acer targets arrested for burglary related incidents, (five charged, 2 lodged in Prison on committal warrant, four files to Director of Public Prosecutions)

Fifteen others arrested for burglary related incidents, (seven charged and eight files to Director of Public Prosecutions)

Six searches carried out for Operation Acer targets in an effort to execute outstanding Court Orders.

 
"Operation Acer” commenced in March 2012 and provides a focussed, targeted and integrated approach to criminals involved in committing burglaries and related offences in the Dublin Metropolitan Region. Through the appointment of Detective Superintendent Peter O’Boyle, Senior Investigating Officer, the operation is co-ordinated throughout the DMR with the assistance of the DMR Co-ordination and Tasking Unit (DMR CTU). The operation provides both a preventative and detection element focused on geographical areas and specific targets.
