Gardaí have arrested a male in his 50’s this morning in the Meath area as part of the investigation into the murder of Eoin O’Connor and Anthony Keegan.
Their bodies were discovered on an island in Lough Sheelin, Co. Meath on the 26th May 2014.
He is currently detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 at Kells Garda Station.
This is the third arrest to date in relation to this investigation.

Gardaí have arrested two males as part of an investigation into the murders of Eoin O’Connor and Anthony Keegan. Both males were arrested in the Cavan area this morning June 11th 2014.
A male in his 20s is currently detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007, at Kells Garda Station. The second male (aged in his 30s) is detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939 also at Kells Garda Station.
Gardaí commenced a murder investigation following the discovery of the bodies of 32-year-old Eoin O Connor and 33-year-old Anthony Keegan on an island on Lough Sheelin in Co. Meath on the 26th May 2014. Both males had been reported missing on the 22nd of April 2014.
The investigation is ongoing and further updates will follow.

Gardaí from Kells have confirmed that the two bodies discovered on an island on Lough Sheelin in Co Meath at approximately 4.30pm on the 26th May 2014 are the bodies of 32 year old Eoin O Connor and 33 year old Anthony Keegan.
This is now a murder investigation and for operational reasons the results of the post mortem are not being disclosed.

Gardaí investigating the disappearance of 32 year old Eoin O Connor and 33 year old Anthony Keegan who discovered two bodies on an island on Lough Sheelin in Co Meath at approximately 4.30pm on the 26th May 2014 wish to make a further appeal to members of the public.
Supt Sean Farrell who is leading the investigation said in Kells Garda station today that they are making an appeal to anyone who;
1. may have seen a Grey Ford Focus 04 D 46380 on the road or in the vicinity of Lough Sheelin near the townland of Ross, Mount Nugent between the 20th and 25th April 2014 or anywhere close to the Cavan/Meath border.
2. may have been fishing or sailing on the lake on the 22nd and the 23rd April, or who may have been walking on the shoreline on those dates.
3. Or anyone with any information who may be able to assist in this investigation.
