Gardaí at Athy are investigating an aggravated burglary which occurred at a hotel on the Dublin Road, Athy at approximately 5am this morning (Monday 15th December 2014)
Four masked male raiders entered the hotel at 5am this morning; they proceeded to tie up two members of staff and ransacked the reception area and hotel offices. It is believed the raiders were armed with hammers. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken during the incident.
The raiders left the hotel shortly after 7am in a red Peugeot 206 which was stolen from the car park of the hotel.
At approximately 7.50am a car was reported to be on fire near the exit to Kill near Goffs on the M7 motorway, this car is also believed to have been involved in the earlier incident.
In a follow up operation Gardaí arrested three men (41yrs, 40yrs & 28yrs) in Kill, Co Kildare in connection with the aggravated burglary. All three men are detained at Naas Garda Station.
Investigating Gardaí are appealing for information.
