Gardaí at Fermoy are investigating a two vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the M8, northbound between Mitchelstown and Fermoy (Junctions 14 & 13) at approximately 14.40p.m. today, Tuesday 12th August 2014.
A male, 28 years, was fatally injured when the car he was travelling in collided with another vehicle. The female passenger was removed to Cork University Hosipal with minor injuries. The female driver of the second car, 71 years, was airlifted to CUH with serious injuries.
The M8, northbound between Junctions 13 and 14 is currently closed (at Kilworth and Mitchelstown) and local diversions are in place.
