Post Office Robbery in Clondalkin, Dublin on the 1/4/14

Gardaí in Clondalkin are investigating a post office robbery which occurred at the Mill Shopping Centre, Clondalkin yesterday the 1st April at approximately 11am.

Two males one believed to be armed with a firearm  and the other with a sledgehammer entered the Post Office and threatened staff and demanded money. The raiders left the scene in a waiting car. A similar car was found abandoned on St Patricks Road. It is believed that the raiders got into different cars. Gardai later stopped a car and arrested two males(27 and 37yrs) they were taken to Clondalkin Garda station where they are being detained under the provisions of section 30 Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended.
 

During follow up searches a third male(25yrs) was arrested and is being detained under the provisions of section 30 Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended at Ballyfermot Garda station.
 

There were no shots fired and no one injured during the robbery.
 

Gardai in Clondalkin are appealing for witnesses to the robbery or anyone who may have seen  suspicious activity around the vicinity of the Post office prior to the robbery or suspicious activity in and around the St Patricks Road/Oakwood Grove, Clondalkin area to contact them on 01 6667600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
