Gardaí in Galway have seized drugs and arrested a male following a search of a house.
Gardaí from the Galway Divisional Drug Unit assisted by local Gardaí conducted a planned search of a house in the Mountbellew area of Co Galway this afternoon 19/4/14. During the course of the search Cannabis plants (pending analysis) with a combined estimated street value of up to €300,000 were seized in what was described as a sophisticated grow house. Other drug paraphernalia and two firearms were recovered.
One man in his mid 40’s was arrested at the scene and is currently detained at Ballinasloe Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 – Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
The scene is currently preserved pending a Garda technical examination.
