A male aged in his 40's is expected to appear before a sitting of Naas District Court this evening charged in connection with the death of Larry Keane following an incident in Athy on 18th July 2013.
He was arrested this morning (23rd April 2014) and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at Newbridge Garda Station.

Gardaí are investigating as murder the death of a 56-year-old male following an incident in Athy, Co. Kildare, on the 18th July 2013.
Larry Keane from Athy was found seriously injured at St.John’s Lane shortly before midnight on the 18th July 2013. He was taken to Naas General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. A post-mortem examination was carried out by the Deputy State Pathologist Dr Curtis yesterday evening (19/7/2013).
Preliminary results have been furnished to investigating Gardai confirming he died and as a result of injuries sustained during this incident.
A technical and forensic examination of the scene at St John’s Lane is continuing and the area remains sealed off.
Investigating Gardai are appealing to the public for information and are in particular appealing to anybody who saw or was in contact with Larry Keane in on Thursday 18th July to contact them. Gardai also wish to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of St John’s Lane between 11 p.m. and 12 a.m. on the night of the incident.
