Arrest - Galway Hit and Run Collision on the 23/4/14

Gardaí investigating a fatal traffic collision, which occurred at about 8.30pm on 23rd April 2014 on the Gort Road in Loughrea, Co Galway have this morning arrested a man in his 20s.

 He is detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Loughrea Garda Station and can be detained for up to twenty four hours.
 

A cyclist, 68 year old John White, St Laurences Field, Loughrea, was fatally  injured in the collision.  He was taken to University College Hospital Galway where he was later pronounced dead.
