Six arrested under Section 30 Offences Against the State Act 1939-'98 on the 11/9/13

As part of ongoing investigations into dissident republican activity in the Dublin/Wicklow area,

members of An Garda Síochána attached to the Special Detective Unit and Crime & Security Section stopped two vehicles and arrested five males under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939-’98 for membership of an unlawful organisation, this morning, 11th September 2013. 
 

The five males arrested, all aged in their 20's, are currently being detained at various Garda Stations in the Dublin Metropolitan Region. 
 

Four vehicles have also been recovered and seized for the purpose of forensic examination.

 
Follow up searches connected with this investigation were carried out and as a result a number of firearms, assorted ammunition and component parts for explosive devices have been seized and awaiting technical examination.

 
A female in her late 20's has also been arrested for membership of an unlawful organisation and is currently detained at Ballymun Garda Station under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939-'98.

 
Investigations are ongoing and further searches continue.
