As part of an ongoing operation by the Detective Unit in Portarlington targeting the sale and supply of Controlled Drugs in the Laois area a search of an apartment at the Oaks, Killnacourt, Portarlington was conducted this afternoon.
During the course of the search two sawn off shotguns, a pistol and a quantity of ammunition (subject to technical examination) were recovered. In addition cannabis herb (pending analysis) with an estimated street value of up to €10,000 was also seized.
A male in his late 20’s was arrested at the scene and he is currently detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 at Portlaoise Garda Station.
