Court Appearance - Cash in Transit Robbery in Tallaght, Dublin - cash recovered on the 9/9/13

A male in his 20’s who had been detained at Tallaght Garda Station in relation to the cash in transit robbery on the 9.09.13 at Old Bawn Road.

He is scheduled to appear before Tallaght District Court on the 12/09/13 at 10.30am charged in connection with the robbery.

Gardaí investigating a cash in transit robbery that occurred on the Old Bawn Road, Tallaght at 1p.m. on Monday, the 9th September 2013, have recovered a quantity of cash.

Three males, one armed with a shotgun, and another armed with a weapon confronted a security worker as he was making a cash collection.  A third man remained in the car and they escaped with a sum of money in a silver Aventis which went in the direction of Allenton Estate. The car was later recovered in Allenton.  There were no injuries or shots discharged. 
 

In a follow up operation last night (9th Sept) Gardaí searched a house and arrested one man aged in his early 20s.  He was detained at Tallaght Garda Station under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act and remains in custody. 
 

The cash was recovered this afternoon 10th September during search in the Allenton Estate.  It was discovered hidden in shopping bags in the garden of a house.  The cash is dye stained and the exact quantity is not yet known. The Garda investigation is ongoing.
