Gardai in Clondalkin have arrested a male and recovered cash following a cash in transit robbery at Bawnogue Shopping Centre this morning.
At approximately 11.20am two males approached a cash in transit worker as he was making a delivery to a premises in Bawnogue Shopping Centre. They threatened the worker with what is described as a handgun before making off in a waiting jeep with a sum of money.
A passing Garda patrol observed the jeep leaving the carpark and followed it a short distance to Kilmahuddrick where they succeeded in arresting one male and recovered cash and a firearm (subject to technical examination).
The male in his 30’s who was arrested is currently detained at Clondalkin Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 and the investigation is ongoing.
