Gardaí from Galway Divisional Drug Unit assisted by Gardaí from Gort Garda Station have seized a large quantity of cannabis plants and cannabis herb at a premises in Derrawee West, Derrybrian, Co. Galway, during a planned search on the 8th October 2013.
During the course of the search, Gardaí seized 100 mature cannabis plants and approximately 1kg of cannabis herb. The seizure has a total estimated value of €100,000 (pending analysis).
Two men aged 40 and 21 years were arrested at the scene and detained at Galway Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act, 1996.
The 40 year old man has been charged and will appear before Gort District Court on 24th October 2013. The 21 year old man has being released without charge and a file is being sent to the DPP.
