Gardai in Ashbourne investigating the murder of Christopher Gaffney whose body was found on the 1st/2nd November 2013 at The Mayne, Clonee, Co Meath are appealing for information.
An Garda Síochána are appealing to any person/persons who may have spoken with or who had contact with Christopher in the past two months to contact the Gardai in Ashbourne. We are also appealing to any person/persons who may have witnessed any suspicious or unusual activity involving people or vehicles over the past number of days or weeks, in the Kilbride/The Mayne area, close to the Porterstown Road, Clonee, County Meath, to come forward with any information.

At approximately 4.15pm, yesterday afternoon, Friday, 1st November 2013, Gardaí at Ashbourne received a report of the discovery of a human arm at a location known as The Mayne, Clonee, County Meath.
On arrival at the scene, Gardaí discovered a human arm near a stream at The Mayne, Clonee, County Meath. The area was immediately sealed off for full technical examination and the Office of the State Pathologist was notified. The human remains were removed to the morgue at Our Ladies Hospital, Navan, for full forensic examination.
The scene of the discovery was secured over night and a search operation was commenced this morning, Saturday, 2nd November 2013, using specialist search teams, including the Garda Water Unit and the Garda Dog Unit.
Later this afternoon, 2nd November, further human remains were discovered. These remains were removed to James Connolly Memorial Hospital, Blanchardstown, where the Deputy State Pathologist, Dr. Kalhid Jabber is currently carrying out a Post Mortem on these remains. Investigators await the results of the post mortem to determine the nature and direction of this investigation.
As a result of investigations carried out by An Garda Síochána, Gardaí can confirm that the remains discovered are that of a 37 year old male from the Blanchardstown area, Dublin. A Garda Family Liaison Officer has been appointed and is currently liaising with the family of the deceased.
An Garda Síochána will not be releasing the name of the deceased until all family members have been notified.
An incident room has been established at Ashbourne Garda Station to investigate all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of this body.
